Avinash Khanna, a cardiologist at Clark & Daughtrey Medical Group, P.A., has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
The honor recognizes Dr. Khanna’s “outstanding credentials, achievements and community contribution to cardiovascular medicine,” which are the basis for the fellowship in the ACC. (Online: www.acc.org/about/overview/facc.htm)
“The strongest evidence of achievement for those who earn the F.A.C.C. insignia comes from their peers,” the ACC says on its Web site. “Letters of sponsorship from other F.A.C.C.’s and medical school faculty attest to professional competence and commitment to excellence, and are necessary for election.”
Dr. Khanna will be formally inducted as a Fellow at a convocation ceremony March 31, 2008, during the ACC’s 57th Annual Scientific Session in Chicago.
Dr. Khanna, 33, joined Clark & Daughtrey in November 2005, after completing a fellowship in interventional cardiology through the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He also completed a fellowship in clinical cardiology through the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He received his medical degree from Grant Medical College, Bombay, India.
Dr. Khanna is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, with subspecialty certifications in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Khanna is one of nine medical providers in Clark & Daughtrey’s cardiology department. All five of the physicians are board-certified, and all are Fellows of the American College of Cardiology. The department is located in Clark & Daughtrey’s “new Main” building at 130 Pablo St.
